As an eco-campsite we like to keep things as simple as possible and encourage recycling and renewable energy. We also like to support local and British business as part of our purchasing policy.
With that in mind, most of what you’ll find has been sourced as sensibly and sensitively as possible.
Our on site toilet and shower block, affectionately called ‘The Hurry Up Wagon’ is a perfect example of recycling. An ex-prison van body we thought it was an ideal conversion project as it’s already insulated, wired up for power and washable! The unit is split into two with a separate access flushing toilet to one end and the remaining area set up as a good sized room with double vanity sink and a secure shower and dressing area. The privacy windows are also a bonus! The bright wall art adds colour as well as hiding some of it’s previous occupant’s art work!
Much of the utensils and equipment on site are from recycled or second hand items sourced on sites such as Freegle or purchased locally. In that event we’ve tried to find local or UK based small businesses to help us out.
In addition to the Hurry Up Wagon there is a parking area, honesty shop for small essentials such as milk, eggs and logs, communal washing up area (not available during Covid-19 restrictions) and a fridge/freezer for customer’s use. There are two water standpipes on site and a grey water disposal point. There is no Elsan disposal facilities as composting loos are provided on each pitch.
There are four pitches for 2020 – three standard pitches with their own composting toilets and one furnished bell tent pitch. There is no electric hook up as we are off grid.
We can provide phone and device charging at the house.
