2024 availability and rates are now live on our booking & rates page. We open for weekends throughout April and May (weather dependent) and then open everyday from Thursday 23rd May until Sunday 29th September.
We are excited to announce some changes in 2024, including a new camping pitch on the hayfield, a second small walker pitch and a modern tipi.
Light a campfire…go for a walk…explore the area…play games…watch the wildlife…read a book…simply relax. A quiet and secluded off grid campsite with tent camping and glamping and welcoming small campervans, conveniently located just off the A5 near Chirk between Oswestry and Wrexham and just 15 minutes drive from Llangollen.
Wild Cherry Camping is a perfect site for families and couples, with a silent-site policy after 10pm, welcoming guests to escape to rural North Wales, enjoy a digital detox and recharge the batteries whilst letting the children embrace the outdoors. The environment is at the heart of the site and recycling, renewable energy and sustainable practices are actively embraced.
There are plenty of pitches to chose from – the Hay Field is home to the four biggest pitches each providing plenty of room for tent camping and the convenience of a private compositing toilet on each pitch.
Oak Field hosts two smaller pitches ideal for short stop overs whether walking, cycling or touring.
Coppice welcomes back to basic glampers with a fully furnished bell tent with kitchen, dining area and compost loo. Coppice also includes a private tent camping pitch that can be hired should friends and family wish to join you.
We are also excited to announce a modern tipi to book for trips in summer 2024. We plan to have simple furnishing for a family of 5 plus a campfire and dining area. Booking will open in late spring 2024.
Full details on all the pitches including facilities and vehicle access can be found on the pitches tabs. All pitches have campfire pits and firewood can be purchased on site. We also offer hire of a campfire cooking kit including tripod, kettle, hanging grill & griddle plate and dutch oven so you are set up to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner over the fire.
We are a dog friendly site and welcome up to two dogs on each of the pitches at £1.00 per dog.
Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and take time to stretch your legs around the smallholding. There is plenty of space to keep the kids occupied – play games on Hayfield, traverse the dips and hillocks in Buzzard’s Meadow and see if you can spot Buzzards or the rare Goshawk cutting through the treetops, or whilst exploring Goat’s Wood you can make dens or go on a bear hunt! Say hello to our goats, sheep, pigs, turkeys and chickens who live on the smallholding.
